1. Booking & Pre-Payment Policy

  • All dog walking, drop-in visits, companion, and offered services must be paid for in full at the time of booking via our SumUp Bookings portal, bank transfer or in person. A time slot or vehicle space is not confirmed or secured until full payment has cleared.

2. Premium Capacity Limit

  • To guarantee ultimate safety, attention, and high-quality care, our services are strictly capped at a maximum of two dogs per booking. We only accept solo dogs, duos from different matched households, or multiple dogs from the exact same household. We do not operate large pack walks.

3. Cancellations & Flexibility:‍ ‍

  • We know plans can change! If you need to cancel or change a booking with more than 24 hours' notice, we are happy to fully refund or move your session. For any last-minute changes made with less than 24 hours' notice, the booking fee is non-refundable, but we will gladly credit the full amount toward a rescheduled walk or visit to be used within 30 days.

4. Weather, Comfort Policy & Safety Thresholds

  • Your pet's safety is our absolute priority. Our transit vehicle is equipped with live temperature/humidity monitoring, air conditioning, and extraction vents. British weather can be unpredictable, and your dog's safety is our absolute priority! If extreme heat (typically 24°C or above), severe winter storms, or dangerous icy conditions make an outdoor adventure unsafe, we will contact you immediately.

  • In the event of extreme heat (temperatures exceeding safe thresholds for transit or exercise) We are completely happy to either reschedule the walk for a cooler/safer time where available or substitute the session for an active, indoor companion/welfare drop-in visit so your dog still gets plenty of love and attention while you are away. Your dog’s welfare is of the highest priority.

5. Key Holding & Home Security

  • All client house keys handed over for drop-in visits or companion sitting will be kept securely locked away when not in use.

  • To protect your home security, coloured key tags will be coded using a numbers and letters. No identifying information (such as your name, pet’s name, or home address) will ever be written physically on the key tag.

  • In the unlikely event that a key is lost or compromised under our care, our liability is strictly limited to the cost of a professional locksmith to replace the affected external door locks under our specialist business insurance policy.

  • We agree to keep your property completely secure during our visits, locking doors according to your explicit instructions. We accept no liability for home burglaries or damage if you instruct us to leave keys in a hidden outdoor location (e.g., under a flowerpot or under mat etc)

6. Emergency Veterinary Care & Tragic Events

  • Emergency Authority: In the event of a sudden illness, accident, or medical emergency, the client grants Dexter's Doggo Adventures full authority to seek immediate veterinary attention at your registered practice or the nearest open veterinary facility if the owner is unable to be contacted.

  • Fee Reimbursement: The client assumes full financial responsibility for any veterinary care, treatments, or medical transport rendered during an emergency. The client explicitly agrees to fully reimburse Dexter's Doggo Adventures for any money paid out on their behalf within 14 days of the incident.

  • Tragic Events Protocol: In the highly unlikely and tragic event of a pet passing away while under our daytime care, your pet will be immediately and safely transferred to your registered veterinary practice (or the nearest open veterinary clinic) to be held by a veterinary professional until the client can be reached to make personal arrangements.

7. Off-Lead Exercise Policy

  • Dogs will strictly be kept on a lead at all times for home collection, home drop-offs, and all public walks unless explicit written consent has been provided by the owner via our Off-Lead Consent which is part of our meet and greet onboarding process.

  • We reserve the right to keep any dog ON a lead if we feel the environment is unsafe, or if the dog’s recall is unreliable, regardless of prior owner permission. Off lead walking will only happen with signed consent and when the environment and location are suitable. All dog’s recall will be tested via training lead upon becoming an approved client for the first three walks. For companion bookings and 1 hour drop-in services all dogs will be lead walked within client’s local area.

  • If an off-lead dog runs away or causes an accidental injury/damage despite all reasonable professional precautions being taken, our liability is strictly limited to the thresholds covered under our specialist Pet Business Public Liability insurance policy.

  • Solo Walk Classification: To maintain our absolute standard of physical safety and control on public trails, dogs weighing over 40kg, or giant breeds requiring specialised physical management (such as Great Danes, Mastiffs, St. Bernards, or large Newfoundlands), are classified exclusively as Solo Explorer bookings.

  • Exclusion from Duo Walks: For the welfare of both pets and the handler, giant breeds cannot be paired with a partner dog on a Duo Adventure, regardless of temperament. This policy ensures focused, 1-on-1 physical control and specialised handling at all times.

12. Equipment, ID Tags & Legal Compliance

  • Legal Identification: In strict compliance with UK law (The Control of Dogs Order 1992 and Microchipping of Dogs Regulations), the Client agrees that their dog will wear a secure collar or harness fitted with an ID tag displaying the owner’s contact details on every adventure. The Client confirms the dog's microchip records are fully accurate and registered.

  • Owner-Provided Equipment: The Client must provide a secure, well-fitted harness or collar, and lead that are in excellent structural condition. Dexter's Doggo Adventures reserves the absolute right to refuse service on any given day if provided equipment is deemed unsafe, frayed, or poorly fitted.

  • Restricted Items: For safety and behavioural welfare, the use of choke chains, prong collars, or electronic training devices is strictly prohibited on all walks.

  • Equipment Failure Liability: While every possible care and professional handling technique is utilised, Dexter's Doggo Adventures accepts no financial or legal liability for accidental damage, escapes, or injuries resulting from the structural failure of owner-provided collars, harnesses, leads, or tags.

"While the Client must provide sound daily equipment, Dexter's Doggo Adventures proactively carries high-quality, professional backup leads and safety tethers in our transit vehicle to handle any unexpected equipment failures instantly and securely."
